Balasore: As many as 350 small investors, who were duped by different chit fund firms in Balasore district, received their money back on the first day of the refund process on Wednesday.
An amount of Rs 12.48 lakh has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 350 investors of Bhograi, Basta-Remuna, Soro and Bahanaga blocks.
The money was disbursed from the office of the district collector.
“A total of 1, 096 small investors with below Rs 10, 000 deposits have been identified and refund will be made within this week,” informed district collector Ramesh Chandra Rout.
These investors had lost their hard-earned money after being lured by various chit funds firms with the promise of hefty returns on their deposits. However, concrete steps are being taken to refund investors’ money in a phased manner, the collector added.
