Bhubaneswar: BJD national spokesperson Dr Amar Patnaik on Saturday, called upon top 20 wealthy Indians to shoulder the burden of vaccinating at least 25% of Indians as part of their duty to the motherland.
“In fact, some of you can, just from one year of profits,” he said in a tweet.
I appeal to top20 wealthy Indians/ companies! Can’t you shoulder the burden of vaccinating atleast 25% Indians as part of your duty to Motherland? Infact some of you can, just from one year of profits! If theres a time to give back, it’s NOW! I’m sure shareholders would agree.1/2 pic.twitter.com/oKsDzHI30o

While millions of Indians have plunged into poverty in the pandemic, the wealth of Indian billionaires has grown substantially during the same time, he said in another tweet.
I’ll add that while millions of Indians have plunged into poverty in the pandemic, wealth of Indian billionaires has grown substantially during the same time.

It may be recalled that earlier, on April 15, Patnaik had tweeted a video of a crematorium in Gujarat overflowing with bodies and said that it was time to acknowledge the collective mismanagement of the COVID-19 situation in the country. The tweet came a day after Congress’ candidate for the by-election to Pipili Assembly segment Ajit Mangaraj succumbed to COVID-19.
