All Odisha Panchayats To Get Fibre Internet By Year-End
Bhubaneswar: All panchayats in Odisha will have fibre internet by the end of this year, Electronics & Information Technology, Sports & Youth Services Minister Tusharkanti Behera said on Tuesday.
The minister said fibre internet will solve the problems of students pertaining to online education to some extent.
Though the service will be provided on behalf of the Odisha government, it will not be limited to government offices, Behera said. Besides, private telecom companies willing to provide fibre internet services at affordable price will also be awarded the work order, he added.
Fibre-optic internet, commonly called fibre internet or fibre, is a broadband connection that can reach a speed of up to 940 Megabytes per second (Mbps), with low lag time. The technology uses fibre-optic cable which can send data as fast as about 70% of the speed of light.
