Bhubaneswar: Soon after the oath-taking ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, the Rajya Sabha member from Odisha Ashwini Vaishnaw sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath. “I seek the choicest blessings of Lord Jagannath to serve the people of Odisha. Jay Jagannath,” he tweeted.

His taking oath in Odia at the Upper House in 2019 and invoking Jagannath after being sworn in on Wednesday is being viewed as a bid to show his commitment to Odisha of which he is not a native.
The bureaucrat-turned-entrepreneur-turned-politician has been taken in as a Cabinet Minister in the Narendra Modi-led government. He has been given the all-important Ministry of Railways and will also be in charge of Communications and Electronics & Information and Technology Ministries.

On Thursday, he expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for entrusting him with the responsibility of Railways. He also shared pictures of him assuming charge of the Railways and Communications Ministry at Sanchar Bhawan.
