Dharmendra Call To Central Varsities To Fill Up 6,000 Posts By October
New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Friday called upon Vice-Chancellors of Central Universities to play a crucial role in implementing the New Education Policy 2020 as the “Universities are cradles of creativity, innovation and opportunities. The new policy will help place India at the top of the emerging new world order. As custodians of India’s destiny, the universities should fulfil their responsibilities outlined in the new policy.”
Addressing the vice-chancellors through a video conferencing Pradhan stressed the need to make education a lot more vibrant and holistic in establishing India as a knowledge superpower through the new policy. Minister of State for Education Subhash Sarkar, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare and UGC Chairman DP Singh were present among others.
The Minister urged the heads of universities to popularise and promote learning in Indian languages and cultural heritage and to work on mission-mode to fill up the 6,000 vacant posts by October, 2021. Expressing his happiness over the prevailling practices of Central Universities in filling up of general and reserved vacancies, education during Covid19 curbs and online learning he hoped that they will take a key role in NEP implementation.
The Minister exhorted the Universities to come with strategies for making India fully literate and to help the country meet its nutrition challenge during ‘Poshan Month’ as a mark of AzadiKaAmrutMahotsav.
The VCs were also requested to encourage sports in the universities, and to promote a sporting culture in the country. The varsities must also make their students job creators by promoting innovation and research on their campuses.
