7 More Succumb To COVID In Odisha , 1 From Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The COVID toll in Odisha touched 8,047 on Sunday with seven more patients succumbing to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours.
The deceased have been identified as:
1.A 51 years old female of Angul District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypothyroidism, Carcinoma in Urinary Bladder on Chemo.
2.A 75 years old male of Angul District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
3.A 39 years old male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
4.A 65 years old female of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Chronic Kidney Disease.
5.A 62 years old female of Bhadrak District.
6.A 78 years old male of Bhubaneswar.
7.A 42 years old male of Cuttack District who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease.
The state had seen five, seven and six deaths on Saturday, Friday and Thursday when the state government announced the end of the audit of the backlog deaths, which had gone up during the peak of the pandemic.
Odisha has reported 6171 COVID deaths in the second wave against 1876 the previous year.
Around 6,000 fatalities were added in the last four months. August saw around 66 deaths a day, on an average, while it was 61 in July and 42 in June. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered last month, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June (1,272) and May (737), the health department sources said.
Notably, the second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 39 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
