Balasore: A police jeep that was reportedly driven by the district SP got stuck in the beach in Chandipur and later retrieved on Wednesday night.
According to sources, Balasore SP Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra had gone to Chandipur beach in the evening to drive a new police vehicle (OD-05-BA-4616). While driving the vehicle inside the no-entry zone of the DRDO’s Integrated Test Range (ITR), the vehicle got stuck in a narrow nullah.
While he was trying to bring the vehicle from the nullah, there was a sudden high tide in the sea. At this, the SP left the vehicle and came away from the spot. The jeep got submerged under sea water.
After the tide receded at about 11.30 pm, the vehicle was found stuck in the sand. Following information, the ODRAF teams rushed to the beach and brought out the vehicle after an hour-long effort.
As the media asked the SP about the incident, he said he was not driving the vehicle. However, a home guard on duty at the ITR told the media that the SP was driving the vehicle.
Interestingly, the ODRAF personnel, while trying to bring the vehicle out of the sand, covered its registration number plate by applying sand on it as soon as a team of mediapersons arrived at the beach.
