Bypoll To Pipili Constituency Begins Amid Tight Security
Pipili: The much-awaited bypoll to Pipili Assembly constituency began on Thursday amid tight security.
As announced by the Election Commission, the polling began at 7 am. People were seen standing in long queues at all booths to exercise their franchise with strict adherence to COVID protocols.
The polling will continue till 6 pm.
Sources said that the people waiting at booth no-188 were not able to vote for more than 40 minutes due to a technical glitch in the electronic voting machine (EVM). Apart from this, polling was stopped for some time due to a technical glitch in the EVM in booth no-203 at Nua Sasan Dakhina Sahi.
A total of 2,29,998 voters of the constituency will exercise their franchise to decide the fate of the candidates.
Of 348 booths, 201 have been identified as sensitive.
To ensure a free and fair poll, arrangements have been made for webcasting in 175 booths and videography in 12 booths.
Besides, there will be micro observers in 23 booths.
To maintain law and order during the polling, 23 platoons of armed police and three companies of BSF personnel have been deployed at each booth.
