Ganjam Pvt Bus Owners’ Stir: Agitators To Hold Talks With District Administration
Berhampur: The members of Ganjam district bus owners’ association have decided to hold talks with the officials of the district administration over the ongoing strike, protesting against relocation of Berhampur city bus terminal to Haladipadar.
The association, however, continued with the protest for the third day on Tuesday, while agreeing to allow only 10 city buses to ply on different routes.
Commuters had been having a harrowing time since Sunday with no buses plying on Bhubaneswar, Aska and other routes of the district.
Several passengers were seen returning disappointed from the bus stand, owing to non-availability of city buses.
The agitators had threatened to continue with the strike till the decision regarding relocation of Berhampur city bus terminal was not revoked.
Such move would affect the local business here and the passengers would also face a lot of hardships, they had stated on Monday.
The members of the association had also threatened to intensify the stir by joining hands with the local traders and public, if the authorities concerned paid no heed to their demand.
On Saturday, members of small traders’ association had gheraoed the residence of Berhampur MLA Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik on the same issue.
