IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Centre (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall most parts of Odisha for three days from Sunday.

A release by the IMD’s Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said that a low pressure formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal on Saturday will trigger widespread rainfall in the coastal, interior and north Odisha districts in the next 24 hours.

As informed by HR Biswas, director of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rainfall will occur in most places in the south coastal districts and the remaining places in the state while isolated heavy rainfall will occur at one or two places in the coastal districts in the next 24 hours.

The rainfall will further increase from Monday. During the period, there will be moderate rainfall in the interior Odisha with isolated heavy rainfall at one or two places, he said, adding that there will little change in the weather condition even after July 12.

According to the IMD, there has been a 30 percent deficit rainfall in Odisha by July 7.
