Heavy Rain Likely In Khurda & 8 Other Odisha Districts In Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: The well-marked low pressure area over north Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood weakened into low pressure area and lies over north interior Tamil Nadu and neighborhood, stated the India Meteorological Department in its afternoon bulletin.

The cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. A trough runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with low pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu to north coastal Odisha across Coastal Andhra Pradesh and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Another cyclonic circulation that lies over Gulf of Thailand & neighbourhood and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to emerge into south Andaman Sea and under its influence a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over south Andaman Sea and neighbourhood by November 13.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Eastcentral and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on November 15, stated the bulletin.

The weather warning for Odisha is as follows:

Yellow Warning

Heavy rainfall likely at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada till 8.30 am of November 13.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely at many places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Rayagada, at a few places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and at one or two places over the district of North Coastal Odisha, Boudh, Nuapada, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri and Balangir.

November 13 to 14 

Heavy rainfall very likely at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Kandhamal.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha.

The weather is likely to remain dry n most parts of the state over the next three days, barring light rainfall in a few places.

However, there will not be any large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) during the next 4 to 5 days and it will be above normal by 2 to 3 degree C during next 3-5 days over the districts of Odisha, stated the IMD.
