Fresh Low Pressure Over Bay Of Bengal Likely Towards November-End
Bhubaneswar: Even as the depression over southwest Bay of Bengal crossed north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts between on Friday, the IMD has forecast likely formation of another low pressure area (LPA) towards month-end.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin said a fresh low pressure area may form over the Indian Ocean and adjoining south Andaman Sea between November 26 and December 2.
It stated that several weather models indicate formation of the system, which may intensify to depression, over southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood during the period.
“The numerical models including IMD GFS, GEFS, NCUM, NEPS, ECMWF and ECMWF indicate a fresh LPA over equatorial Indian ocean and adjoining south Andaman Sea towards the later part of the week from November 26 to December 2. It may intensify into a higher category system (depression or above) over southeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood,” the IMD said.
Meanwhile, the IMD stated that the depression over southwest Bay of Bengal has moved north-westwards and crossed north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Chennai.
Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and at one or two places in South Odisha on Saturday, it added.
