PM Modi To Launch ₹ 339 Crore Temple Project In Varanasi Today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project on Monday. The project will connect two iconic landmarks, Kashi Vishwanath temple and Ganga ghats, in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi.

The prime minister is expected to reach the temple at 1 pm and inaugurate phase one of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, which has been constructed at a cost of ₹ 339 crore.

He will inaugurate 23 buildings in this phase of the project — spread over a huge area of almost five lakh square feet. The previous premises in comparison was spread across 3,000 square feet.

The ancient Kal Bhairav temple will be the first place of visit by PM Modi. He will offer prayers inside the sanctum sanctorum, aided by the main priest of the Kashi Vishwanath temple, Shrikant Mishra.

“Kashi Vishwanath temple will be presented as a new ‘Dham’ to the nation and world. It will be inaugurated by PM Modi, whose vision and guidance have played a key role…This ‘Dham’ will give a new, global identity to Varanasi,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was quoted as saying by NDTV.
