Third Wave In Odisha: COVID Infected Can Take Precaution Dose After 3 Months; Check The Difference Between Omicron, Delta Symptoms

Bhubaneswar: Patients who have recovered from COVID-19 and are eligible for the precautionary dose can take the vaccine shot after three months, informed Dr Jayanta Kumar Panda, advisor to the Odisha government on COVID-19, on Saturday.

On the situation in Odisha, which is reporting more than 10,000 cases daily fuelled by the Omicron variant, Dr Panda said while some patients were requiring hospitalisation, most were recovering in home isolation.

Asked about the symptoms in Omicron patients during the third wave, he said it was starting with throat pain, followed by clogged nose, headache and body ache, which was going away quickly lasting only two-three days.

Dr Panda said many Omicron patients were showing two new symptoms not seen in the earlier waves: stomach ache and loose motion.

But he added that there was no loss of smell and taste this time.

Dr Panda said the Coronavirus had undergone 30 mutations with Omicron since the pandemic began, and transmitting six-seven times faster.
