Panchayat Polls: BJP Demands SEC Action Against BJD Supporters For ‘Murder’ Of Its Candidate In Odisha’s Bhadrak
Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday drew the attention of State Election Commission (SEC) to alleged murder of its candidate in panchayat polls by BJD supporters in Bhadrak district and demanded strong action against the accused.
Leading a delegation of BJP leaders, deputy leader of opposition Bishnu Sethi submitted a memorandum in this regard to the SEC.
Sethi alleged in the memorandum that the ruling BJD has resorted to violent means to suppress the opposition candidates in the panchayat elections due to its waning popularity.
He alleged that BJD supporters killed the BJP supported candidate for zilla parishad member post from zone 28 of Bhadrak block, Subasish Giri, by beating him up mercilessly and threw his body into a pond on Tuesday.
The BJP delegation also mentioned the names of the accused in the memorandum and demanded stern action against them by the SEC to ensure peaceful and fair elections in the state.
