Bhubaneswar: The Union Budget-22 drew mixed reactions from various sectors in Odisha. While some sectors welcomed it, others were not happy.

Startups

Startups in Odisha have given the Union Budget-22 a thumbs-up, saying it will create new opportunities for them. The Centre has extended the tax holiday for startups by one more year till March 31, 2023, which they say will boost new ventures.

Startups in the state are also excited about ‘Drone Shakti’ and digital university.

Hotels, tourism sector not happy

The Centre has extended the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) by Rs 50,000 crore till March 2023. But the tourism and hospitality sector said what they were expecting were incentives and soft loans to recover from the blow from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The allocation for the tourism ministry has seen a slight increase from Rs 2,026 crore to Rs 2,400 crore, which they say is not adequate.
