Odisha Govt’s ‘Mo School’ To Collaborate With UNICEF For Special Programme
Bhubaneswar: The states government’s ‘Mo School’ initiative has decided to launch an alumni driven aspiration programme in high schools to encourage them to contribute towards holistic development of the students.
The decision was taken at the 9th Governing Council meeting of Mo School through virtual mode on Friday. As per the decision, each school will create its alumni database with its current address and contact details and an alumni committee will be formed at school level to promote sports, science and cultural activities among students.
The committee will organise talk sessions, career counselling, mentoring programme and community service activities in villages every year.
In a bid to promote learning practice among elementary and secondary students, Mo School in collaboration with UNICEF will conduct a special programme for next 2 years. The major focus of the collaboration will be to address the learning loss of students due to the COVID pandemic.
It was also decided at he meeting to form a team to look into the skills and growth of teachers and students and curate teaching aids. Similarly, a decision was taken to reward three best performing teachers of every district.
Addressing the meeting, Susmita Bagchi, chairperson, Mo School said steps are being taken to ensure timely completion of the projects under the programme so that the students can get maximum benefit.
Bishnupada Sethy, principal secretary, S&ME department, said Mo School is committed to provide a platform for all-round development of the students. In order to improve the digital skills of the teachers and students, several programmes are implemented in collaborations with international organisations.
Anupama Saha, SPD-OSEPA and member secretary and Amarjit Jena, chief operating officer, Mo School also spoke at the meeting. Among others, Poonam Guha Tapas Kumar, Director, SC & ST department, Prabir Kumar Khillar, Officer on Special Duty, Mo School, Dhenkanal Collector and Project Director, DRDA attended.
