Surat: A 36-year-old man was brutally murdered in broad daylight here on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Juned Pathan, was stabbed to death by four people on the road, in front of his wife and three minor daughters.
Police said the crime was committed over a family dispute, and that the persons who attacked Juned are distant relatives of the victim’s wife.
Juned, who ran a weekly newspaper in Surat, was at his in-law’s place with his family and were on way to visiting a relative in hospital.
A speeding car hit their bike from behind, Juned and his family fell on the road. Four youths stepped out of the car and stabbed Juned multiple times as his wife and daughters watched helplessly, reported The Indian Express. Before anyone could come to their help, the quartet fled from the spot.
A profusely bleeding Juned was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
An FIR was lodged against the four culprits after the police were alerted. Only one of them has been caught so far.
