Five Middlemen Arrested From Cuttack’s SCB For Fleecing Patients
Cuttack: Five middlemen have been arrested from the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city for allegedly diverting patients to private diagnostic centres.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said that the accused were working as attendants in the Radiology Department of SCB. “They were fleecing poor patients, who were visiting the hospital from remote areas, and diverting them to private diagnostic centres and nursing homes for medical tests,” he said.
They were nabbed by Mangalabag police on Monday. “Outdoor tickets of those patients and Rs 1,300 have been seized from them,” the DCP said, adding they were working on a commission basis.
The Commissionerate Police has alerted the patients and advised the SCB authorities to verify the credentials of contractual employees during the appointment.
