Pervez Musharraf’s Organs Malfunctioning, Recovery Not Possible: Message From Family

Karachi: Hours after conflicting reports on Pervez Musharraf’s condition circulated in Pakistan media, the family of the former Pakistan issued a detailed message on his health and current state.

Clarifying that he is not on ventilator, as some reports had suggested, the family said General Musharraf has been under treatment in hospital for the last three weeks and recovery is not possible as his organs are malfunctioning.

“He is not on the ventilator. Has been hospitalized for the last 3 weeks due to a complication of his ailment (Amyloidosis). Going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning. Pray for ease in his daily living,” the family tweeted on Friday evening from Musharraf’s Twitter handle.

Earlier, certain sections of Pakistan media reported that Gen. Musharraf had passed away in Dubai. However, other media houses in Pakistan said the news of his death wasn’t correct.

Musharraf, who served as Pakistan’s President from 2001 to 2008, has been living in Dubai for the last six years. He’s suffering from amyloidosis, a disease that affects connective tissues and organs, inhibiting normal functioning.

Gen. Musharraf faced charges in Pakistan for the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 2007.
