Chess Olympiad: First-Ever Torch Relay To Travel Across 75 Locations In India
New Delhi: For the first time in its chequered history, a torch relay will be held for the Chess Olympiad.
India will be hosting the 44th edition of the Chess Olympiad, which started in 1927.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the historic torch relay on June 19 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Stadium, Union Sports minister Anurag Thakur informed via a tweet on Thursday.
A new chapter will be added to #IndianSports when PM @narendramodi ji launches the 1st-ever Torch Relay for Chess Olympiad on 19th June.
The torch will travel across 75 locations in India!

The torch will travel across 75 locations in India before reaching Mahabalipuram the venue of the prestigious competition.
The Chess Olympiad will be held from July 28 to August 10, 2022.
Odisha’s top player Padmini Rout has been selected in one of the two Indian teams that will match wits against the best in business.
As the host country, India will field two teams each in Open and Women’s events.
