Neither ‘Jawan’ Nor ‘Kisan’ Safe Under Modi Govt, Says Congress
New Delhi: As the fiery Agnipath protests rage across several states for the fourth day, the Opposition is in no mood to let BJP off the hook.
On Saturday, Congress slammed the Central government over violent countrywide protests, drawing a parallel between ongoing agitations over the new recruitment scheme for Armed forces and the year-long protests against the Union government’s farm laws, which were eventually repealed.
“Because of anti-people decisions of the Modi government, neither the jawan (youth) nor kisan (farmer) is safe. Is the country in safe hands?” read a tweet (in Hindi) from Congress party’s official handle, along with photographs of Agnipath and farmer protesters being lathi-charged by police and security personnel.
मोदी सरकार के जनविरोधी फैसलों की वजह से न तो देश के जवान सुरक्षित हैं, न ही किसान सुरक्षित हैं।

In a separate tweet, Rahul Gandhi mocked ‘mafiveer’ (apology master) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that just as he had to withdraw the farm laws, he will ultimately have to accept the demand to roll back Agnipath.
Former Union Finance minister P Chidambaram was just as scathing in criticizing the government.
“The piecemeal concessions to the Agnipath scheme announced by the government prove our point that the scheme was ill-thought and poorly conceived,” Chidambaram tweeted.
The Congress announced it will hold a ‘satyagraha’ at Jantar Mantar on Sunday in solidarity with armed forces aspirants protesting against the Agnipath scheme.
