NDPS Court Orders Release Of Aryan Khan’s Passport
Mumbai: Aryan Khan is finally set to get back his passport.
A special court of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 on Wednesday cancelled the bail bond of Shah Rukh Khan’s son from the drugs-on-cruise case, and ordered the Sessions court registry to return his passport.
“As submitted on behalf of both the parties, respondents (Narcotics Control Bureau) after investigation filed a complaint against 14 out of 20 persons. Admittedly, no complaint was filed against six persons, including the present applicant, as no material evidence surfaced during investigation,” special NDPS judge VV Patil said while cancelling the bail bond and discharging his surety, actress Juhi Chawla.
The court further ordered its registry to return Aryan’s passport, which he had to deposit after an October 28, 2021 high court order, following which he was granted bail.
The order followed NCB’s no-objection certificate on Aryan’s petition filed on June 30 for cancellation of his bail bond, discharge of the surety and return of passport.
Aryan was on May 27 granted clean chit by a special investigation team (SIT) of the NCB in the drugs-on-cruise case.
Shah Rukh’s son was among those arrested after NCB’s former zonal director Sameer Wankhede led a raid on a holiday cruise ship in Mumbai on October 2, 2021.
Aryan spent seven days in NCB custody followed by 21 days in Arthur Road jail before Bombay High Court granted him conditional bail on October 28.
Aryan was directed to furnish a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and one or more sureties in the amount. He was also asked to surrender his passport and not leave the country without permission from NDPS court.
