Over 3.3 Crore Beneficiaries Under Food Security Scheme In Odisha, Says Minister
Bhubaneswar: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Wednesday said total 3,33,27,255 persons in Odisha are receiving benefits under the food security scheme of the Centre as well as state government.
Giving details of the beneficiaries under both schemes in the Assembly, the minister said 3,25,18,455 persons have been included under the National Food Security Scheme, while 8,08,800 have been enlisted under the state scheme.
He further said 1,49,353 beneficiaries have been included in the current financial year and 12,81,145 enlisted persons have died. Putting the new applicants for the scheme at 1,40,547, he said the eligible beneficiaries among them would be included in the scheme after due process of verification.
The state government had launched its own food security scheme on October 2, 2018 in order to cover those people who were left out of the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
