Flood Threat Looms Over Odisha’s Bhadrak Town; Salandi River Flows Close To Danger Mark
Bhadrak: Flood threat looms over Odisha’s Bhadrak town as Salandi river near it was flowing close to danger mark on Sunday.
Due to continuous rain in the catchment areas of Salandi under the influence of low pressure and subsequent depression in Bay of Bengal for the last two days, the water level of the river has been steadily rising.
As the water level of the reservoir continued to rise, the authorities of Hadagada dam on Salandi first opened two gates and later another gate. Now, 2400 cusec water was being discharged into downstream of the river.
The water level of Salandi has increased close to danger mark at Rajghat. It was flowing at 15 ft while the danger mark is 17.02 ft.
According to Salandi Canal division sources, if the upper catchment areas of Salandi receives more rain due to depression, the Hadagada dam authorities would open more gates which would lead to flood in the villages located along downstream of the river.
