Student Of Govt Residential School Goes Missing For 10 Days In Odisha’s Rayagada; Authorities Unaware

Rayagada: Even as a student has gone missing for 10 days, the authorities of his residential school remain ignorant regarding his whereabouts in Odisha’s Rayagada.

Lingaraj Nayak, son of Chitra Nayak of Bendalpas village under Kasipur block was studying in Class X of Residential Government High School at Penikana under Dengalodi panchayat of Rayagada block. He was pursuing his studies while staying in the hostel of the school.

As Lingaraj did not attend classes for several days, his sister Dharmendri, who also studies in the same class of the school, informed her father on Thursday. Chitra Nayak went to the school and enquired about Lingaraj from headmaster Dambarudhar Kandhapani on Friday.

The headmaster told Chitra that Lingaraj had taken his permission to go to his house and left the hostel on August 17. He could not say his whereabouts after that, he added.

Following this, both Lingaraj’s father and the headmaster filed a missing complaint at Sheskhol police station on Friday. The police have registered a case and are on lookout for Lingaraj. The police along with district welfare officer Ashok Kumar Satpathy also visited the school for investigation.

Meanwhile, Lingaraj’s family has held the school authorities responsible for the missing student.
