Bhadrak: The body of an elderly woman, who was missing after being washed away in Baitarani river in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, was recovered on Sunday.
The woman, identified as Phula Dhal of Raghunathpur village in Bhandaripokhari area, had gone for a bath when she was swept away in the river on Saturday.
According to sources, family members undertook a search operation with the help of villagers but were unable to trace her. As the saree of the woman was found on the river bank at nearby Akhua Sahi, it was suspected that she had slipped into the deep water and got swept away by the river current.
After being informed, fire service personnel conducted a search operation but could not trace the woman last evening. The body was spotted and recovered by the search team when the operation resumed on Sunday.
