Actor Threatens Legal Action Against Congress; Know Why

Bengaluru: Actor Akhil Iyer has threatened to take legal action against Congress for using his photo without his consent in a political campaign.

“I am appalled to see that my face is being used illegally and without my consent for ‘40% Sarkara’ – an @INCIndia campaign that I have nothing to do with. I will be taking legal action against this,” Iyer tweeted along with posters released by Congress party in Karnataka related to its ‘40% Sarkara’ campaign against the BJP government in the state.

Iyer tagged Twitter handles of Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress, requesting them to look into the issue.

The ‘40% Sarkara’ posters are meant to highlight Congress’ claim that 40% commission rate has become the norm under the BJP regime.

Congress workers have also put up ‘PayCM posters’ with Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai’s image across Bengaluru.

They resembled the design of electronic wallet Paytm, with the CM’s face in the middle of a QR code with the message “40% accepted here”, referring to allegations of 40% commission against BJP government.
