Team India Woman Cricketer Complains Cash, Jewellery Stolen From London Hotel
London: Two days after the Indian women completed an exhilarating 3-0 ODI series sweep against England in their backyard, the team’s wicketkeeper-batter Taniya Bhatia took to social media on Monday to reveal that some of her valuable personal belongings had been stolen from the London hotel where they were staying.
Taniya, who was part of India’s ODI and T20I squad for the recent white-ball matches in England as well as the preceding Birmingham Commonwealth Games, said she was shocked to discover her bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery being stolen from her hotel room.
“Shocked and disappointed at Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management; someone walked into my personal room and stole my bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery during my recent stay as a part of Indian Women’s Cricket team. @MarriottBonvoy @Marriott. So unsafe,” Taniya tweeted.
“Hoping for a quick investigation and resolution of this matter. Such lack of security at @ECB_cricket’s preferred hotel partner is astounding. Hope they will take cognisance as well,” she added.
Officials of England and Wales Cricket Board are yet to respond to her complaint.
