Man Arrested From Odisha’s Nabarangpur For ‘Rape’ In Chhattisgarh
Bhubaneswar: A man from Odisha, who posed himself as a godman, has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Chhattisgarh.
According to sources, the man, identified as Buduram Andakari of Jhatiarpara village under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district, posed himself as a devotee of Lord Hanuman and claimed to have possessed special powers bestowed by the Lord.
People from the village and its neighbouring areas including bordering Chhattisgarh used to visit the fake Godman to seek solution of various problems including physical ailments. On coming to know about ‘special power’ of Buduram, a family from Chhattisgarh came to meet him in the village for treatment of their minor daughter who had constant stomach pain on September 19.
After meeting Buduram, they returned home. Next day, the fake Godman called up the girl’s father over phone and told him that he would carry out treatment of the girl again in his house. On September 22, Buduram went to the girl’s house in Chhattisgarh and told her parents that he would perform a special puja alone with her in a closed room.
Without suspecting the intention of the fake Godman, the parents allowed him to remain confined in a room for some time. After performing the puja with the girl, he left the place. Then the girl told her parents that Buduram had raped her.
The girl’s father filed a complaint in this regard at Bishrampur police station in Chattisgarh. Following investigation, a team from the police station led by IIC Ravi Shankar came to Jhatiarpara village and with the help of local police arrested Buduram. They have booked him under POCSO Act for the crime.
