New Delhi: The third season of Four More Shots Please will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video after a hiatus of two years and is garnering as much controversy as the first two seasons. Actors Sayani Gupta, Bani J, Kirti Kulhari, and Maanvi Gagroo, in a recent interview, discussed their web series and the criticism it has received.

The show depicts how the four women handle stress in both their personal and professional lives. The show has frequently been criticised for portraying “too much sex,” despite the fact that it speaks to women,  with its honest storytelling and interesting characters. The characters have talked openly about their desires, mistakes in relationships, and general sexuality throughout the past two seasons.

The show’s leading actors recently spoke with indianexpress.com about the trolling it receives. Kirti Kulhari was quoted as saying, “Yes, the show is largely about sex. There is also a lot of sex in the world ” She added that India is the most populated country and they are representing what’s already there out in the world. The actor also added, everyone has the right to express their opinions, and, they would accept all criticism.

Sayani Gupta claimed that the issue is not sex but rather women’s ability to select their sexual partners and discuss their sexuality. “You’ll be surprised to find the percentage of women who haven’t experienced an orgasm in their entire life, and most of them have multiple children. It’s the mentality that prevents us from discussing women or sex. It’s tauba tauba all the time,” she was quoted as saying.

Bani J, a well-known VJ portrays the show’s homosexual character, Umang. Here’s what she said. “The true problem is that women are not allowed to express their ideas in our “male-dominated culture. The problem is seeing women in leadership positions and making decisions. They have sex wherever they want, with whomever they want, and say whatever they want. Men are not used to seeing women be that self-assured. Many males struggle with the idea of women being able to say no when they want. We do, however, have the right to say both yes and no. We have a voice, so you ought to pay attention to us as well. We deserve to be heard and seen.”

Maanvi Gagroo shared her personal experiences with women’s criticism on the show to wrap up the discussion. There were other older women who loved the show, indicating that Four More Shots Please appealed to women of all ages. “During season 1, they would be like what a nice show, kya mast show banaya hai… but say it in hush tones, almost whispering. However, by the next season, they expressed their love openly stating that they don’t care what their husband thought about it. And now, they have been eagerly waiting for the third season. They wish to live their lives vicariously through us. They say they had no freedom or maybe they didn’t think they could exercise their freedom when they were our age. So that speaks more of what the show is about than people just claiming it’s about sex.”
