Gujarat Election: Ravindra Jadeja’s Wife Rivaba May Get BJP Ticket
Ahmedabad: Team India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba is one of the probable candidates of the BJP for next month’s Gujarat Assembly elections.
According to sources, Rivaba, who joined the BJP in 2019, may replace a sitting candidate.
The BJP’s Central Election Committee, currently meeting in New Delhi under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chairmanship, is expected to announce the first list of candidates shortly.
Rivaba Jadeja has reportedly sought a ticket from Jamnagar (North) constituency, where Dharmendrasinh Jadeja is the sitting MLA.
The saffron party is likely to back new blood after former CM Vijay Rupani, ex-deputy CM Nitin Patel, former Education minister Bhupendrasinh and ex-minister of state for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja decided not to contest to give a chance to new party workers.
“I worked as a chief minister for five years with everyone’s cooperation. In these polls, responsibility should be given to new workers. I won’t contest the poll, I sent a letter to seniors and conveyed it to New Delhi. We will work to make a chosen candidate win,” Rupani was quoted as saying by ANI.
The BJP has been in power in Gujarat for 27 years.
Polling for the 182 seats will be held in two phases — on December 1 and 5. The result, along with that of Himachal Pradesh polls, will be declared on December 8.
