Bhubaneswar: Anti-corruption Vigilance sleuths of Odisha apprehenaded a Senior Laboratory Technicial of a government Community Health Centre (CHD) in Odhsha’s Sonepur district was on Wednesday for allegedly taking Rs 9,000 bribe for medical tests.
The accused, identified as Akshaya Kumar Pattnaik, was posted at Tarva CHC in Sonepur district.
Though the medical tests are done free of cost in the CHCs on behalf of the government, allegations that Pattnaik was habitually demanding money for such tests from poor villagers, were being received, a Vigilance release said.
Based on the input, the accused was nabbed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 9000 from the complainant in lieu of his blood test and that of 60 other villagers. He had demanded Rs 150 per test, it said.
The bribe amount has been recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Pattnaik from Disproportionate Assets angle.
A case has been registered and investigation is in progress. Detailed report is awaited.
