Rain, Thunderstorm & Squall To Hit Odisha Again From March 26
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind reaching 30-40 kmph from March 26 under the influence of another western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
Yellow warning has been issued for some places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur on March 26. Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely at a few places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur and at one or two places in the rest of the state during this period.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj in the subsequent 24 hours with light to moderate rain or thundershower in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and at a few places in remaining districts.
There will be little change in the weather condition in the subsequent two days, the MeT office said, adding that the day temperature may gradually rise by 2-4 degree Celsius during the next 2 days with no large change thereafter.
Umashankar Das, senior scientist of regional centre here, had earlier told the media that there was a probability of another western disturbance in India on March 23. “Rainfall accompanied by hailstorms and thunderstorm coupled with the gusty surface wind will start from March 23 night and will reach Odisha by March 25,” he said.
He added that some places in the state will experience moderate rainfall on March 25 while heavy rain may lash the coastal districts on March 26.
