IPL Season 16 To Be Streamed In Odia, Cuttack’s Loria Mohanty To Anchor
Bhubaneswar: In a first, season 16 of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) will also be conducted in Odia this year. While anchor Loria Mohanty from Odisha’s Cuttack is set to host the ‘Match Centre Live’ before the match, commentator Nishant Majithia will head the IPL Odia feed as the producer.
Loria, a resident of Trisulia in Cuttack, was selected after three rounds of audition held last month and is proceeding to Mumbai. With her 12-year long career in anchoring, this opportunity is the first of its kind for Loria.
Sources said the 30-minute show will include panel discussions, cricket commentary and graphics, all of which will be condcuted in Odia. It will have guests from the state including Debashish Mohanty, Basant Mohanty and Biplab Samantray.
Excited over her selection, Loria reportedly said it was a matter of joy and pride for her when she came to know about her selection to host IPL’s season 16 which is going to be held in Odia for the first time. She thanked her family for the support and constant encouragement.
Stating that she updated her knowledge about cricket, Loria expressed happiness that people here will be able to watch everything from panel discussions to commentary to graphics in Odia in this digital era. She gave credit for her selection to support from her parents, in-laws and husband Sumit Dhawan.
IPL season 16, scheduled to start from March 31, will be streaming in 12 regional languages on Jio Cinema app and will see participation of 10 teams, the sources added.
