5 More STPIs To Come Up In Odisha, Says Union Minister

Bhubaneswar: The Central government has approved 22 new STPIs across the country including 5 in Odisha.

This information was given by Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on March 31.

The new Software Technology Park of India (STPI) will come up at Balasore, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Angul and Koraput (Jeypore) in Odisha. The state already has 3 STPIs at Bhubaneswar, Rourkela and Berhampur.

There are 63 STPIs in the country with the latest one at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh inaugurated by the minister in 2021. The other states where the new STPIs would be established include Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

STPI, an autonomous society under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is instrumental in taking the government initiative across the country including smaller towns. The STPI is set up on the  basis of the proposals received from state governments.
