Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is the third richest among 30 CMs in the country with movable and immovable assets worth Rs 63.87 crore, a report of Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released on Wednesday said.

His properties include movable assets of Rs 23,26,555 and immovable assets of Rs 63,64,15,261. He has a self income of Rs 21.17 lakh and liabilities of Rs 15 lakh, the report further said.

Andhra Pradesh CM Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy is the richest with total assets of over Rs 510 crore, followed by Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu at the second spot with more than Rs 163 crore assets. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has the least net assets of Rs 15 lakh, it added.

Of the 30 CMS, 29 (97%) are crorepatis.

According to the official portal update last year, Naveen had property worth Rs 64.97 crore as of December 2021, a marginal dip from Rs 64.98 crore a year ago. He owned movable property worth Rs 12.09 crore, which included deposits of Rs 72 lakh in a bank at Janpath, New Delhi, and Rs 21.71 lakh in the State Bank of India at Bhubaneswar, along with jewellery and a four-wheeler. He has three joint accounts, two in Hinjilicut College Campus branch, Ganjam and one in Padampur branch, Bargarh, for general elections purpose.

The gold jewellery was valued at Rs 3.45 lakh and the old Ambassador car of the 1980 model at Rs 6,434.

According to the CM’s property statement, he possessed immovable assets worth Rs 52.88 crore, all of which were inherited from parents Biju and Gyan Patnaik. He has a farmland and building spread over an area of 22.7 acre at Tikri Khera village of Faridabad, valued at over Rs 10 crore. He inherited the farm from his mother. He also owns 50 per cent share of his ancestral property at APJ Abdul Kalam Road in New Delhi, valued at over Rs 43 crore. He has two-thirds share in Naveen Niwas, located near Bhubaneswar airport, worth over Rs 9,52,46,190. This, too, was inherited from his mother.

The CM has a financial liability of Rs 1.25 crore, which he had taken as advance against the sale of a farmland at Faridabad vide an agreement dated September 18, 2019. Last year, the chief minister had a liability of Rs 15 lakh, which he had taken from his elder sister Gita Mehta. However, he paid the loan this year, the statement added.

An analysis of the latest election affidavits filed by 30 CMs by The Print in December last year had revealed similar results.
