Bhubaneswar: With an aim to integrate Homoeopathy into the existing health care system and to provide a synergy for cooperation in research and education, AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This MoU between two premier institutes will provide a compact platform for research to establish this science on the basis of scientific evidence. It also aims to reduce the over usage of modern medicine drugs in these tertiary health care facilities.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar and CCRH under the Union Ministry of Ayush have initiated working together to set up a Department of Integrative Medicine here at AIIMS. The MoU will provide the scope to explore and establish the scientific evidence of Homoeopathy, said AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Dr Ashutosh Biswas.

Through this, the two national institutes will have the scope of collaborative research for therapeutic response of the medicine in Homoeopathy and protocol of treatment, he said.

Director General (DG) of CCRH Dr Subhash Kaushik has said Homoeopathy has a wide potential as an integrative system to current healthcare in the realm of public health platforms owing to its scientific evidence. The MoU has been signed with AIIMS Bhubaneswar on integrative medicine. The outcome of this MoU will certainly boost the health care system and benefit the masses, said Dr Kaushik.

The wider popularity and cost-effectiveness of Homoeopathy make it a sustainable system for integration in the modern health care system. Integrating Homoeopathy in Healthcare will help to achieve the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as advocated by the World Health Organization (WHO), stressed experts on the occasion.

During COVID pandemic, Homoeopathy proved a precedent of adjunctive care to standard therapy. Integrative homoeopathic care has provided varied successful integration and outcomes for COVID-19, Dengue, Acute Encephalitis syndrome, post covid illness, cancer care, acute otitis media, mental diseases in Councils research centers and tertiary healthcare setups, informed Dr Kaushik.

Among others Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Bhubaneswar Dr Dillip Kumar Parida, DEAN Research Dr Satyajit Mishra, Senior Medical Officer, Department of Ayush Dr Prasant Kumar Sahoo, Dr Subhasish Sarkar, Dr Asif Sardar, Dr Ajit Kumar Pradhan, Santosh Kumar Sahoo and from CCRH Dr Debadatta Nayak, Dr Umakanta Prusty, and Dr Karanpreet Nahar were present on the occasion.

It may be noted here that Homoeopathy has been used as a therapeutic measure over the years in different diseased condition such as Musculoskeletal Disorders, Pediatrics Complaints, Chronic Dermatological problems, Autoimmune Disease Conditions, Psychosomatic Disorders, Life Style Disorders, Allergic Conditions, etc. Homoeopathy is also used in conditions like Cancer, Terminal illnesses, HIV/AIDS for providing palliative care and improving the patient’s quality of life.
