Cardiac Conclave At AMRI Bhubaneswar Showcases Latest Developments
Bhubaneswar: Renowned cardiologists and healthcare professionals conducted enlightening and instructive sessions at the Cardiac Conclave 2023, hosted by AMRI Hospital here on Saturday.
One of the biggest conferences in eastern India on cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac procedures, the conclave aimed at spreading awareness and sharing knowledge, with opening avenues for collaboration among medical professionals from the field of cardiology in Odisha.
A range of topics related to cardiovascular diseases and their management was presented by experts.
Dr Siddharth Mishra, Medical Superintendent at AMRI Bhubaneswar, emphasised on the importance of organising such events to update medical professionals on advances in the field of cardiology.
Dr Mishra said that the hospital has conducted over 10,000 Coronary Angiograms (CAG), 5,000 PTCAs, and 1,000 CABG procedures.
“In addition, we have also conducted more than 1,500 other cath lab procedures, taking our total cath lab procedures to more than 17,000,” he said.
Dr JK Padhi, Director of Cardiology at AMRI Bhubaneswar, presented a session on Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), a minimally invasive procedure that has revolutionised treatment of aortic stenosis, a common heart valve condition.
Another interesting session was presented by Dr Lingaraj Nath, HoD Cardiology, AMRI Bhubaneswar, on new therapies in lipid management of coronary artery diseases. Sharing the latest developments in this area, Dr Nath provided insights into how patient outcomes can be further improved.
Top Interventional Cardiologist Dr Mahesh Agarwala presented a case study on unexplained syncope, a condition where a patient experiences fainting without an apparent cause. His presentation demonstrated the importance of careful diagnosis and management of such cases, which can be life-threatening if left untreated.
Dr Dibya Ranjan Behera, Consultant, Cardiac Sciences, AMRI Bhubaneswar, deliberated on recent advancements in interventional cardiology and provided a glimpse into the future of interventional cardiology.
