SOA Ranks Third In ‘Swachhata’ Among Campuses In India
Bhubaneswar: The Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (Deemed to be University) in Odisha capital was on Monday ranked third in the country in the Swachh Campus Ranking for 2018 conducted by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD).
Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and minister of state for HRD Satya Pal Singh presented the plaque and certificate to SOA’s deputy registrar Sidhya Brat Dash at an event held in New Delhi during the day.
It is only institution in its category from Odisha to figure in the top ten Swachh Campus rankings.
SOA was earlier ranked 24th in the country in the university category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework and 38th among all institutions this year. It has also been re-accredited by NAAC.
Over 10,000 students study and conduct research in the nine different institutions under SOA. It has the disciplines of engineering, medical sciences, dental sciences, pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology, management, legal studies, nursing, hospitality and tourism management and agricultural sciences.
SOA has been using solar power across its different campuses while putting
in place facilities for rainwater harvesting. The Swachh Campus Ranking is an
endeavour by the central government to promote the culture of ‘Swachhata’ in
higher educational institutions.
