Mother’s Day: Google Pays Tribute To Moms Across The World
New Delhi: All round the year, different dates are earmarked to mark various occasions and events, but none more significant than May 14 which is dedicated to all mothers in many countries across the world.
Mother’s Day is an occasion to appreciate those who give birth, nurture children and play a crucial role in family bonding with their selfless and unconditional love and efforts.
In a heartwarming gesture to salute and honour these women, Google has come up with a doodle which features a mother hen and an egg along with some flowers.
Google is known to create touching and exclusive art by way of doodles on special occasions.
Mother’s Day was initiated in the USA by one Anna Jarvis, a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers during the Civil War and held a memorial for her mother. She campaigned for a day to be dedicated to all mothers. In 1914, Mother’s Day was announced as an official holiday by then-President Woodrow Wilson made.
Since then, the second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day in most countries. There are some nations which celebrate mothers and motherhood in the month of March.
