Sambalpur Hottest In Odisha At 43°C By 2.30PM; Thunderstorm, Gusty Wind Alert For 2 Days
Bhubaneswar: Sambalpur was the hottest places in Odisha at 43 degree Celsius by 2.30 am on Tuesday followed by Hirakud (41.8), Jharsuguda (41.6) and Bhubaneswar (37.8).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no change in the day temperature with mercury soaring to 42 degree Celsius at one or two places in Interior Odisha during the next 5 days. The mercury is likely to touch 43 degree Celsius at Boudh and Balangir on May 31, while six places – Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Titlagarh, Balangir and Boudh – are likely to turn a boiling cauldron with the same temperature on June 2.
There is also a yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph for some districts for two days. Warning for thunderstorm with lightning continues till June 3 while the MeT office has also predicted rain at some places during this period.
