Deaths Of 7 Devotees During Bahuda Yatra: Odisha Mo Parivar Director Leaves For Tripura

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday spoke to his Tripura counterpart Manik Saha over telephone and expressed deep grief over loss of life in the Bahuda Yatra accident at Kumarghat the previous day.

He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family members of the victims and wished for early recovery of the injured persons. Naveen said that he and the people of Odisha stand strongly with the people of Tripura during this hour of grief.

The CM also offered the Tripura government all support required.

Sources said that Director of Odisha Mo Parivar DK Routray has left for Tripura and will co-ordinate with the officials there.

Seven persons, including two children, died after a chariot came in contact with an overhead high-voltage electric wire during Bahuda Yatra celebrations at Kumarghat in Tripura’s Unakoti district around 4.30 pm on Wednesday. The condition of the six of the 15 injured is said to be critical. They have been referred to the Agartala Government Medical College, reports said.

However, it is still not clear whether Odias residing in Tripura have died or sustained injuries in this incident.
