Sundargarh: Police on Wednesday arrested the alleged lover of the woman postmaster, whose body with multiple stab injuries was recovered from a forest under Lefripada police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district the previous day.
The arrested has been identified as Nayan Seth.
According to police sources, Seth suspected Snigdha Pradhan, a postmaster working in Telendihi, of creating rift between their families and plotted to murder her. He even bought a new knife from market and stabbed her multiple times following an argument on Monday. He then stoned her to death and disposing of the body at a field near Belsariapada forest. A knife was found lodged in her body when police recovered it.
After committing the crime, Nayan even messaged Snigdha’s mother on WhatsApp from her number about the murder and the location of the body. The message also stated that Nayan, her lover, was also murdered and his body disposed of in Sarafgarh, which was later found to be fake.
Snigdha’s family had also informed police about the relationship and that she went missing after having gone to meet him. Following which, police tracked down Nayan, who has reportedly confession to the crime.
