BMC Slaps FIR, Rs 50K Fine Each On Jatra House, TV Channel Over Unauthorised Posters In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Stepping up its war against unauthorised poster menace in Odisha capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has lodged FIR and imposed fines of Rs 50,000 each on a jatra group and a private entertainment TV channel.

The civic body shared this information in separate Twitter posts. It said it has lodged an FIR and imposed penalty of Rs 50,000 on a jatra group for pasting unauthorised banners, posters and hoardings at many places destroying the beauty of the city.

Similarly, FIR has also been lodged and penalty of Rs 50,000 imposed on a private entertainment television channel for pasting unauthorised banners and posters in the city.

While one of the jatra group posters was found to have been pasted on a wall, the television channel banner was seen at a mobile phone network tower.

According to sources, the civic body has been taking a slew of measures for the city’s beautification. Therefore, it has launched a drive since last year to remove unauthorised posters from the walls, poles, trees and other structures.

The poster clearing drive will be further intensified and those found violating the norms will be penalized.
