2 Odisha Educators Win National Awards To Teacher 2023 For Innovative Concepts Of Teaching
Bhubaneswar: Two teachers from Odisha are among the 50 to be conferred with the National Awards to Teachers 2023 in New Delhi on September 5, the birth anniversary of former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan also observed as Teacher’s Day.
Subhash Chandra Rout of Brundaban Government High School in Jagatsinghpur and Sashisekhar Kar Sharma of Kenduapada Nodal High School in Bhadrak district have been selected for the award for their innovative concepts of teaching and for stalling dropouts.
The awardees list was announced by the Education Ministry on Saturday.
According to sources, ‘Ring the bell and drink water’ to improve water intake among kids, ‘Sabu dina jiba school’ to reduce dropouts, zero period activities on Saturday, technology-based learning, low-cost teaching-learning materials, ‘my book my buddy’, sing and learn for foundational literacy and numeracy are some of their innovative initiatives.
Rout ensured that students attended regular online classes during the COVId pandemic. He used storytelling method to remove the fear for mathematics from their minds and make learning joyful. Kar Sharma, who is now the headmaster of the nodal high school from where he completed his schooling, is also a popular teacher and continues to take at least four classes every day, besides his administrative work.
Meanwhile, the School and Mass Education Department of Odisha government has congratulated the two teachers on X. ” Celebrating the educators who inspire minds and ignite a passion for learning! Heartiest congratulations to Sri Sashi Sekhar Kar Sharma and Sri Subash Chandra Rout for becoming the proud recipients of the National Teachers Award, 2023.”
