Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched much-hyped “Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha” scheme in three more districts of the state.

The chief minister has approved Rs 272.50 crore for a host of developmental projects to be taken up in Kandhamal, Angul and Gajapati districts under the ambitious scheme. As per provisions of the scheme, each panchayat will get Rs 50 lakh to spend in development works.

Of the fund for three districts, three Assembly constituencies of Kandhamal have been sanctioned Rs 85.50 crore. The constituencies are Baliguda, G Udayagiri and Phulbani. A total of 2,099 projects will be taken up with the fund in 171 panchayats under 12 blocks of the district.

For five constituencies in Angul district, Rs 112.50 crore has been sanctioned under the scheme. The constituencies are Talcher, Pallahara, Chendipada, Athmallik and Angul. As many as 2796 projects will be implemented in 225 panchayats under eight blocks.

Similarly in Gajapati, Rs 74.50 crore has been granted for Mohana and Paralakhemundi Assembly constituencies. The fund will finance 1,662 projects in 149 panchayats under seven blocks of the district.

Addressing the gatherings in the three districts during the launch of “Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha” through video-conferencing from Bhubaneswar, the chief minister said besides development of villages and panchayats, the scheme aims at promotion, preservation and protection of the Jagannath culture and tradition of the state.

Noting that Odisha has always been rooted in its tradition, culture and history, he said Odisha is the land that gave Jagannath culture to the world. It propagates universal love, service and equality. It is based on inclusiveness and embraces everyone irrespective of caste and community.

“Development of digital infrastructure is one of the objectives of the scheme. Internet connectivity, skill development centre, works hub and banking facilities are its other features. It will also open up vast opportunities for youths, women and farmers in rural areas,” Naveen said.
Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha VK Pandian gave the details of the projects and the fund sanctioned for those.

It may be noted that the scheme was launched on October 10 with a budget provision of Rs 3397 crore. Total 90,723 projects will be implemented in 6794 panchayats across the state and an amount of Rs 10 lakh will be allocated for every village as part of the scheme.
