Udaipur Tailor’s Killers Linked To BJP, Claims Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot
Jaipur: Almost a year and a half after the brutal murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teli, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has claimed that the killers are linked to the BJP.
“The culprits have links with BJP. Days before the incident, police had arrested these accused in another case and some BJP leaders had visited the police station to get them released,” ANI quoted Gehlot as saying.
Two men, Ghaus Mohammad and Riyas Attari, entered his shop in Udaipur on June 28, 2022, and beheaded him before fleeing the spot. They released a video where they admitted to killing Kanhaiya, and were arrested.
The barbaric butchering of Kanhaiya sent shockwaves through the country. The National Investigation Agency filed a chargesheet against 11 accused, including 2 Pakistani nationals.
Gehlot also alleged that the BJP was trying to spark communal tension ahead of the November 25 assembly elections in Rajasthan.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had remarked that Congress sympathises with terrorists.
He had made the remark during an election rally near Udaipur on Thursday while referring to tailor Kanhaiya Lal’s brutal killing.
“The murder of Kanhaiya Lal ji is a big stain on the state government. Such a heinous incident happened in Udaipur because there is a Congress government which sympathises with terrorists,” Modi said in an election rally in Udaipur.
Gehlot said that the investigation into Kanhaiya’s murder would have been better handled by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police than NIA, which took up the case immediately after the crime was committed.
“No one knows what action the NIA has taken. If our SOG had pursued the case, the culprits would have been brought to justice by now,” the CM said.
