Mercury Drops To 6.2°C In Odisha; Bhubaneswar Records Below Normal Temp

Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a slight fall in the night temperature with the mercury plummeting to 6.2 degeree Celsius at G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district in the last 24 hours, Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Saturday.

The weather agency further said that nine places recorded temperature below 12 degree Celsius. Besides G Udayagiri, Koraput and Semiliguda in the district recorded 8 degree Celsius each, followed by Daringbadi and Phulbani in Kandhamal district at 8.5 and 9 degree Celsius, respectively, Keonjhar at 11.4 degree Celsius, Bhawanipatna  in Kalahandi and Kirei in Sundargarh at 11.5 degree Celsius each and Angul at 11.6 degree Celsius.

The mercury also dropped below 15 degree Celsius in the state capital, 0.2 degree below normal. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, which woke up to foggy morning, recorded 14.8 and 15 degree Celsius respectively.

Rourkela witnessed very dense fog, restricting visibility to 5o metre, this morning. Dense fog was also seen in Paradip, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Phulbani. Similarly, shallow to moderate fog occurred in Bhubaneswar, Bhawanipatna, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar.

Yellow warning of dense fog continues for one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi till 8.30 am on Sunday. Also, there will be no large change in the minimum temperature during next 5 days, the MeT office added.
