NEET Row: Govt To Form High-Level Committee To Review Functioning Of NTA

New Delhi: The Central government has decided to form a high-level committee to review the functioning of National Testing Agency (NTA) amid multiple allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 medical entrance examination.

“We are committed to hold zero-error exam, and a high-level committee is being formed to improve NTA functioning,” Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said at a press conference on Thursday evening.

Asked if cancellation of NEET-UG was a possibility, like decision to scrap UGC-NET exam on Wednesday night, Pradhan said: “One isolated incident (Bihar paper leak) should not affect lakhs of students who took the exam sincerely.”

Pradhan said his ministry is in touch with the Bihar government.

“In the context of the NEET exam, we are in touch with Bihar government. We are receiving some information from Patna. Patna Police are investigating and a detailed report will be submitted by them. Following credible information, strict action will be taken against the guilty,” Pradhan stated.

He also appealed to Opposition parties, which are going all out against the BJP government, to refrain from indulging in politics on this serious issue where the future of India’s youth is concerned.

“I will again appeal to my Opposition friends to have faith in our system… Our government is 100% committed to transparency, to the betterment of the future of our students. And I assure you again, no malpractice, no irregularity will be tolerated by our government,” Pradhan assured.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said a few hours ago that the BJP is playing with students’ future.
